Things to know

Tue Apr 28, 2009, 10:52 PM
I feel a good update is in order. First, my uploads. A few new things, some major revisions on old. Since I have an office job now where I basically wait all day for other people to contact be before I can fill out the necessary electronic paperwork, I have good chunks of free time. I've been working there since January. It's not particularly great, but it could be worse and at least it's a job. Of course, this week has been stressful since the VP for our department has been visiting and pops up out of nowhere.

Instead of napping like the guy in the cubicle across from me, I've been spending some of that time writing and revising. (I also spend it practicing my Czech, reading/editing Wikipedia, searching for sites that aren't blocked by Websense, and, if I'm feeling especially bold, reading with a book in my lap.) I may add a few more things soon.

Life updates: The biggest one is I am engaged to my love Greg! He proposed to me in February but not on Valentine's Day, which would have been too cliche for my tastes. We've started the marriage preparation through my church, and have been looking at vendors. We'll be getting married Jan 2, which gives me some time to plan, since I was never one of those girls who thought about this growing up. Right now I'm still working on a "theme" for the reception...

Other fun facts: Tonight I learned to drive s standard from my buddy Hahn. I'm moving into an extended studio apartment next month, which will be the first time I've lived alone in 22 years. Mid-May I'm going to Ireland with my older sister for funsies. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, so I decided, what the hell, might as well do it now. Thus, I've been spending some time trying to plan the itinerary. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ;)

But now to sleep. I've got work in the morning. :(

  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: WagonWheel-OldCrowMedicineShow (stuck in my head)
  • Reading: Edna O'Brien, Ulysses, marriage prep books
  • Playing: nothing :(
  • Eating: The last of the frozen food in the fridge
  • Drinking: none, but after this week, I'll need a Shiner Bock

I decided I didn't like it as much and so I axed it. Perhaps I'll put it back up once I rework things. There are quite a few stories on here that I have revamped actually, I just haven't had time to post them. When you spend all day on a computer at work, the last thing you want to do at home is get back on one...

People like us must never think for fear of thinking ourselves out of existence~The Edwardians

Whores just sat around idle, didn't they? If I was a whore I'd get a lot of reading done~Dr. Brooks, in a lecture on The Rape of Lucrece
I liked it, it was very haunting. You should put it back

...or at least email it to me. I wanted to read it again the other day, but I couldn't find it anywhere. :(
